The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, viz. The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949) for regulating the profession of Chartered Accountancy in the country. The Institute, functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The ICAI is the second largest professional body of Chartered Accountants in the world, with a strong tradition of service to the Indian economy in public interest.

ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body not only in the country but also globally, for maintaining highest standards in technical, ethical areas and for sustaining stringent examination and education standards.


ICAI Washington DC  Chapter

The ICAI Washington DC Chapter was established in 2020 and is a part of the global chapter networks of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The Washington DC Chapter has created a world class platform for pioneers in the global accountancy profession. The goal of this chapter is to have an impact in the accountancy field and continuously strive to improve the financial decisions taken in the real world.

Members of this chapter will have an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, accelerate their professional and personal growth and promote high quality financial standards. The chapter provides an excellent source for our members to share professional updates regarding accountancy, taxation, auditing & assurance etc. The Chapter works tirelessly to provide networking opportunities for our members and advance their professional growth.

The Washington DC Chapter aims to play a pivotal role in the India - US relation and build a network through dialogue, events, seminars, and newsletters. The chapter is an advocate of the interest of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and works in alignment of its mission and vision.

The Chapter works closely with ICAI and collaborates with other chapters in US and around the world to leverage CA (chartered accountant) expertise in contributing towards global development.

As a leading presence in our field, the chapter will work to promote corporate social responsibility and create sustainable strategies.

Managing Committee

Neha Gupta, Chairperson

Neha, a seasoned finance professional with an MBA and credentials including CPA, CA, and CS, currently holds the position of Head of Finance at LR Paris, where she oversees all aspects of financial management, ensuring compliance, optimizing performance, and delivering timely and accurate reporting. With a career spanning over 12 years, her journey began in the realm of Big4s' Public Accounting. Her leadership is defined by a commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment and overseeing comprehensive team training and development initiatives

Pratyusha Meda, Vice Chairperson

  CA Pratyusha Meda, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. She has dual Bachelor's degree in Commerce and Law. She has a proven record in accounting and financial management. She has 7+ years of experience in implementing SOx Program for Investment Banking, managing NBFC, and conducting Internal, Statutory & Tax Audits of individuals, firms, private and public limited companies. Her other expertise includes repatriation of funds, applying the Services Exports from India Scheme under Foreign Trade Policy (2015-20), and helping MNC’s set up shop in India. She is driven with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and has shown exceptional leadership abilities as a former Assistant Vice-President at Barclays, Chennai, India. In 2016, she was recognized as India’s First Rising Star in Banking & Finance by Wearethecity Ltd, London. She represented the state of Andhra Pradesh in Table Tennis and garnered recognition as a three-time National Qualifier Champion (between 2002 & 2005).

Kiran Talreja, Secretary

Kiran Talreja, a proficient Chartered Accountant accredited by ICAI, has a diverse background in US accounting, financial advisory, and auditing. Following her stint at Deloitte India, she relocated to the United States and is presently pursuing her CPA. This year, she has taken up the position of Secretary for the ICAI Washington DC chapter.

Neetu Rastogi, Treasurer

Neetu is a CA and MSA auditing with over 10 years of experience in finance and accounting and also holds a certificate in International Taxation and IFRS. She has a 3 years experience with Deloitte USA and worked with global clients in industries, such as pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, energy , automobile and delivered high-quality financial reports, audits, and analyses. She moved to the DMV area in February 2024 and was supporting Ohio Chapter of ICAI prior to that. Aside from work, she is fond of traveling, baking and yoga.

Raj BatraDirector

Raj Batra is a member of the ICAI. He is credentialed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Project Management Professional (PMP) and has a Master's degree in Taxation from American University, Washington DC. He has extensive experience in Financial Management, Forensic Audits, and Taxation Planning and Practice.

Miloni Dhruv, Advisor

CA Miloni Dhruv is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and also holds a Masters degrees in Economics as well as in Computational Mathematics. She is a seasoned Financial Planning & Analysis professional with around 8 years of experience in bringing transformative change and making financial decisions to ensure long-term business growth, sustainability, and market survival. 

Praveen Jain, Advisor

CA Praveen Jain has more than 30 years of well rounded experience in the fields of Finance, Accounting and Information Systems. He is a Certified Public Accountant(CPA) licensed in the state of Maryland. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from India. His vast experience dealing with multiple businesses around the world allows him a unique insight into his client's business expansion efforts overseas. As their adviser, he is often able to caution clients on compliance related matters before it is too late.  His areas of expertise include international tax, expat and immigrant tax, foreign assets reporting, particularly in India and US. He earned his degree, Masters of Commerce in Accounting and Business Statistics, from the University of Rajasthan, in India..  

Gokuldas Pai, Founder Chair

CA Gokul Pai is a qualified Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from AICPA and has also done his Masters in Economic Policy from University of London, and MBA (Management and Strategy) from Western Governors University. He is currently in the Fiscal Policy and Sustainable Growth Unit of a Development Bank in Washington DC where he is involved in Operations Support, Trust Fund Management, supporting client countries in various Tax Administration projects (including writing tax audit manuals, developing audit strategy, training), writing and review of papers on various thematic areas, as well as funding, budgeting and resource management. 

During last fifteen plus years of his professional experience, he has handled diverse roles, and worked for various country teams. His core areas of expertise include Financial Reporting, Tax laws and tax planning, Budgeting, Investment research, and broader economy and markets.
